More on the Chaco’s and the GoLite Quilt

So, I have worn the Chaco Z/1 sandals some more, and today I really got a feel for them. I helped with my sons baseball practice, and while I didn’t do much, I still noticed the straps biting into my toes, and also the bottoms of my big toes felt like they would soon develop blisters if worn to much longer. I have worn them since they have arrived though. Still, after today I realize that the Chaco’s will take some breaking in and getting used to. However, I am all for it. I do love the way they fit, and I think that I will be very happy with them over time, just after I get broke into them……

As for the GoLite, no real update on it. I am sleeping with it tonight. My son and I have a palate made in the room and we are using our backpacking get-up. I am using my Synmat again and my Jag Bag silk liner as a sheet basically. Our church had plans for a camping trip tomorrow night, but rain is forecast, so it has been rescheduled. I want to go somewhere, but I hate leaving my wife all by herself cause she is on call. So, that is up in the air. But it will give me opportunity to test out my quilt of course, as well as my OES sil tarp and the Eureka! Glide 51 Lantern / Flashlight if I go.

About Stick

My blog is essentially a record of my hiking career. Through it, I, and others, can see how I have evolved from a heavy weight backpacker, to a smarter, more efficient, lightweight backpacker. Through the use of video, still photos, and of course writing, one can see my progression, as well as check out some of the places I hike, and not to mention some cool, lightweight gear options. For me, my blog is a journal, but for others, I hope that it is an interactive learning tool to aid them in their own progression towards lightweight backpacking.
