My Thanks to Simple Outdoor Store

My blog is relatively new, and as a new blogger I am trying to get my site out there so that people will run across it for 2 reasons:

  1. Due to my new-found love and passion in which I have found in backpacking / hiking I feel like I may have something to share that may help someone else in one way or another. I do not claim to be an expert, however, this does lead me to reason number 2…
  2. So that I myself can learn from others. I may post something that is incorrect / incomplete, so hopefully others will chime in in the comments section of each page and correct me or fill me in (and of course I will correct this on my site). And then of course, this goes back to reason number 1 in which others can read and learn from.

So, according to the title of this post, I would like to offer my thanks to Dave at Simple Outdoor Store for a few things. First off, just a little about this company (from their website):

Simple Outdoor Solutions, LLC is a family owned business, operating in Flagstaff, Arizona. We started making the Outsak® Animal Resistant Storage Bag out of necessity in January 2009. Our mission is to provide consistent customer service, to make high quality, affordable gear, and to get it to the customer in a timely manner.

At first our scope was small. We wanted to provide the Outsak® to Grand Canyon and retailers in Northern Arizona. I recognized the value of an interlocking wire mesh bag from previous experience as a Professional Guide in Arizona, (including Grand Canyon) and as an avid hiker/backpacker. Our Outsak® bag received a strong welcome when it made its initial appearance at stores at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon in mid-March 2009. Since then our Outsak® bag has been placed in highly reputable outdoor stores across Arizona. Outsak® is still growing, we receive orders on our website from all over the country. The Outsak® has been a success for backpackers on various sections of the Appalachian Trail, North Country Trail, Isle Royale, the Cascades in Washington and Oregon, the Colorado Rockies, countless canyons in Arizona, Nevada, Utah and Southern California. It has traveled the Ozarks and Big Bend.

From reading this, it is easy to see that the Outsak stainless steel mesh bags are a real prize at the store, however, the store does offer quite a few other items as well that are good to have while backpacking. Also, the stainless steel mesh bags are now offered in quote a few different sizes (and weights) to accommodate lots of different hiking styles.

So, I want to thank Simple Outdoor Store for 2 things. First off, for both the quality customer service as well as the quality products in which I have received from them. Quite a few months ago I ordered the Original Outsak from Simple Outdoor Store and three days and nearly 1,500 miles later I was super-happy to find it sitting on my doorstep. Also since then I have been contacted by Dave about Beta-testing one of the newer Outsak UL (Ultra Light) sacks, and yet again was met with great service and concern. Customer service says so much about a company, and the customer service I experienced here was top-of-the-line.

Secondly, I would like to thank Simple Outdoor Store for including a link to my blog on their site. This is the first retail site in which my site has been included, so to me it is a milestone achieved for my site.

Thanks Simple Outdoor Store!

About Stick

My blog is essentially a record of my hiking career. Through it, I, and others, can see how I have evolved from a heavy weight backpacker, to a smarter, more efficient, lightweight backpacker. Through the use of video, still photos, and of course writing, one can see my progression, as well as check out some of the places I hike, and not to mention some cool, lightweight gear options. For me, my blog is a journal, but for others, I hope that it is an interactive learning tool to aid them in their own progression towards lightweight backpacking.
