Inspired by Hendrik from Hiking in Finland, I have decided to share some of the blogs that I frequent. I usually link back to some of the blogs in my post if I reference them, but I wanted to take a minute to simply list them. There are a lot of great blogs out there, and I love hanging out at them because they are great inspiration, and learning tools. And while you have probably heard of a few of them, maybe you will catch one that you are not familiar with…
To start off with, I will list some of the blogs that I frequent daily (usually multiple times…)
The first blog I want to share is by the great Hendrik Morkel from Finland, and aptly called Hiking in Finland. Hendrik’s blog is filled with wicked sweet photos, and of course great stories and super cool videos. This is one of my favorite blogs, and I find myself hanging around there often. You should too!
Next is a blog by Brian Green and is simply called Brian’s Backpacking Blog. Brian has a very nice blog that is constantly getting better and better. He has some really great topics to read as well as some pretty sharp pictures as well. Check it out!
Next is a blog by a guy named Jason Klass. I feel pretty sure that most people have come across one of Jason’s many blogs, or videos somewhere along the line. The site that I keep going back to over and over is called Gear Talk With Jason Klass. There is definitely something for everyone on his site, so go check it out if you haven’t yet. (And be sure to check out the Survivor Stud video series while you’re there.)
Another sweet blog is by a guy named Benjamin Morrison from Germany. His blog is called hrXXlight. Benjamin’s blog is filled with detailed gear reviews and descriptive photos. Definitely worth a look!
The Jolly Green Giant’s blog is called Lightweight and Ultralightweight Backpacking. His blog is a great place to come across new items, or items that are not mainstream. He has a great variety of post throughout his blog filled with great information and pictures. As well, I love checking into his blog because in the right hand column of his blog is a list of many of the blogs that I keep up with (and many more too), and they are listed in order of latest post. Great way to keep up with everyone/s new post! Nice, check it out!
The last blog that I want to mention that I do keep up with on a daily basis is by a current AT thru hiker by the name of Wallace Hunter (or Supa Chef). He and his wife started a NOBO AT thru on March 1st and he has been updating his blog, Hike, Bike, Dale! and his YouTube channel with videos that he is shooting on his phone. For any potential AT thru hikers, he has documented great pretrip planning videos on gear and food, and has now added numerous on-trail videos. Definitely worth a look!
These are blogs that I pretty much hit everyday. There are others though that I do visit quite frequently, and sometimes for days on end.
Joe Newton from Norway has a blog with very cool photos, gear reviews and trip reports. Check out his blog, Thunder In The Night. The pictures alone are worth a trip! (But not the only reason.)
Mike at Phattire.net has a well-rounded blog that covers everything from hiking to biking to photography. If you have an interest in any of these hobbies, his site is worth looking into!
Philip Werner has a very popular blog called Sectionhiker.com. His blog is updated daily with pretty much anything to do with hiking or backpacking. There is something there for everyone. Really, it is easy to spend a whole day there just going from post to post…
Summit and Valley is filled with trip reports and gear reviews. (What backpacker doesn’t like this stuff?)
the boilerwerks is a blog by Devin Montgomery in which he began documenting his creation, the ever-popular-growing Backcountry Boiler. If you don’t know what the Backcountry Boiler is, check out his site. You will be glad you did…
Patrick Gosnell has recently started his blog which is called MyBackpackingBlog.org. Be sure to check out his blog and show him some love…
Redwood Outdoors is a blog that I have just recently came across. John Abela is the author of this site. He has some great reviews on some light-weight gear that is worth looking into.
The Ultralighter is another blog that I have recently stumbled across. It is easy to tell when reading his blog that he is not new to the outdoors and his site reflects that. A great blog to check out, so go check it out…
And the last one I want to mention for now is by another new blogger. Her site is called ulborbust (the name says it all). Be sure to check it out and leave some comments for her too.
And of course, there is my blog…Stick’s Blog. I want to say thanks to everyone that has stopped by my site and especially so for those that have left comments! I appreciate you taking the time to stop by!
