ZPacks Now Sells Cuben Fiber Roll Top Dry Bags & Pack Liners

ZPacks now sells Cuben Fiber Roll Top Dry Bags and Pack Liners! Joe has decided to make it official and has added them to his site (the link above will take you to the page). Here is the general description straight from the ZPacks page:

These stuff sacks are sewn “envelope” style with a single seam down the side and across the bottom. The top of the bags roll down and clip together to keep out water. The roll top can also be used to compress the contents.

  • Constructed from black 1.26 oz/sqyd Cuben Fiber material. By comparison our regular stuff sacks are made from thinner .51 oz/sqyd material.
  • The top of the bags seal with stiff hook and loop to make closing and rolling the top easy!
  • The side seams should be sealed with SilNet (sold separately) if the bags must be completely water tight.
  • 1 year warranty against defects in materials or workmanship on all ZPacks gear.

Joe has decided to make the dry bags in 3 different sizes and 1 size pack liner:

Small Dry Bag

This small dry bag is a good size for a small clothing item, or a handful of miscellaneous loose items.

Flat Dimensions: 8.25″ wide x 11″ tall
Full Dimensions: roughly 5″ diameter by 7″ tall (135 ci / 2.2 Liters)

Weight: .4 oz. / 11 grams
Price: $14.95

Medium Dry Bag

This is a good size for multiple clothing items, a tent, or a small down quilt.

Flat Dimensions: 10.5″ wide x 19″ tall
Full Dimensions: roughly 6″ diameter by 12″ tall (340 cubic inches / 5.6L)

Weight: .7 oz. / 20 grams
Price: $18.95

Large Dry Bag

This will fit a sleeping bag, a bunch of clothes, or use it as a food bag for about 5 or 6 days supply. The shape will fit well in most packs either standing vertically or laying horizontally depending on the pack size.
Flat Dimensions: 16″ wide x 20″ tall
Full Dimensions: 11″ wide by 5.5″ deep by 12.5″ tall. (750 cubic inches / 12.3 Liters)
Weight: 1.0 oz. / 28 grams
Price: $24.95

Pack Liner Dry Bag

This extra large roll top bag works great as a pack liner. It is a perfect fit for our Blast 26 backpack, a ULA Circuit, and other similarly sized packs.

Flat Dimensions: 18″ wide x 36″ tall
Full Dimensions: roughly 6″ deep x 12″ wide x 29″ tall. (2,100 ci / 24 liters)
Weight: 1.65 oz. / 47 grams
Price: $34.95

I have posted a review as well as a video of the pack liner which Joe made for me a few weeks back here on my blog, which can be read here.

As can be read in my review, I am very happy with the pack liner. It does in fact fit inside the ULA Circuit like a hand in a glove. I like the velcro closure which he has used across the top. It not only helps to stiffen the top but it also helps to hold the top closed when I roll the top closed. Very nice addition to dry bags.

I actually carried the pack liner today on a day hike inside my Terra Nova Laser 35 backpack. Since it does roll down, it easily fits in any size pack and I learned today that it actually helps to compress the contents, which is cool in itself.

Anyway, I am happy with the pack liner, and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a light-weight dry bag or a pack liner dry bag. And don’t forget, Joe will do custom work, however, that does require you to contact him before purchasing to clarify everything. As well, keep in mind that getting something custom may take a little longer to ship and may cost a little more. However, in my experiences with ZPacks, my waits were never more than about a week (but most of my purchases have been smaller items, all of which I have reviews for here on my blog).

So thanks for reading! Now click on the link above and get your own ZPacks Cuben Fiber Dry Bag or Pack Liner!

About Stick

My blog is essentially a record of my hiking career. Through it, I, and others, can see how I have evolved from a heavy weight backpacker, to a smarter, more efficient, lightweight backpacker. Through the use of video, still photos, and of course writing, one can see my progression, as well as check out some of the places I hike, and not to mention some cool, lightweight gear options. For me, my blog is a journal, but for others, I hope that it is an interactive learning tool to aid them in their own progression towards lightweight backpacking.
