Trail Groove Contest Winner & Unboxing

I just want to give a quick shout out to the website. The site features an incredible online magazine, as well as a personal blog and even a public forums. The online magazine is definitely worth checking out. It is filled with beautiful pictures from on the trail and the pages between are filled with detailed gear reviews, tips and tricks, trail cooking and just backpacking discussion in general. All-in-all, it is a fun magazine to flip through (although I will admit, I would love to see this magazine in print, however, I am sure that this would be no small task; as well, it is nice to see that Aaron is keeping it “green”).

I have been a relatively active member on the forums there since a few months ago, and in doing so I have had a chance to exchange both, posts in random forum threads, as well as a few emails with Aaron, the guy behind TrailGroove. In doing so, Aaron seems like a cool guy and as can be seen in his magazine, has some great info (and pictures) to share when it comes to backpacking. It would be nice to one day be able to meet him on the trail…

Anyway, since I have been a member of the TrailGroove site there has been a few giveaways. Entry was simple, sign up at the site and then post in the forums. Being as I already enjoy doing this on other sites, this was very simple and fun to do on the TrailGroove site. That was it. Simple. Each entry posted was essentially putting your name in the pot again.

In each of the 3 giveaways, I have been lucky enough to have my name drawn, and I have got to admit, the prizes have been completely awesome! In the first drawing I won a Trail Designs Sidewinder Caldera Cone (including the Inferno pieces) and a 1.3L Evernew UltraLight Titanium cook pot. In the second drawing, I won an autographed copy of the book “I Hike” by Lawton “Disco” Grinter, as well as an autographed copy of “Trail Tested” by Justin “Trauma” Lichter. (The book was also “signed” by his dog, Yoni.)

Then, more recently, I won another contest! Today I came home to a box sitting inside, just waiting on me. Inside the box was a long handle Vargo Titanium Spoon, a single wall Snow Peak 450 ml blue titanium cup and a 0.9L Evernew Ultralight Titanium cook pot! As well, I finally scored some sweet TrailGroove magazine stickers too!

So, I wanted to say a huge “Thanks!” to Aaron for hosting these giveaways. I have certainly enjoyed them and appreciate them. As well, I want to say thanks for also taking the time to create and maintain the TrailGroove site. I understand that it takes a good deal of work to keep even a simple site going, so I can only imagine the amount of time that he puts into keeping his site going.

As well, for those of you who have not yet checked out his site, I encourage you to go and check it out, sign up and participate. You never know when another giveaway may come around…

Thanks for reading!

Disclaimer: I have won a few items in past contest hosted by TrailGroove, however, I am not affiliated with the site. I am under no obligation to post about the TrailGroove site, however, I am quite happy to be a member there and wanted to share this information with others.

About Stick

My blog is essentially a record of my hiking career. Through it, I, and others, can see how I have evolved from a heavy weight backpacker, to a smarter, more efficient, lightweight backpacker. Through the use of video, still photos, and of course writing, one can see my progression, as well as check out some of the places I hike, and not to mention some cool, lightweight gear options. For me, my blog is a journal, but for others, I hope that it is an interactive learning tool to aid them in their own progression towards lightweight backpacking.
