New: Stick’s Blog Logo, Courtesy of Keith from Two Gear Guys

Sticks Blog Logo
Not too long ago, I awoke one morning and opened a Facebook message from Keith (AKA: Frank Patriot) from the Two Gear Guys. Once I opened the message, I was shocked… I was still half-asleep and lying in bed, but quickly had to sit up, rub my eyeballs and focus on what I was seeing… it was awesome! It was the logo which is directly above!

There has been a number of times that I have found myself sitting around, trying to think up some sort of logo for my blog, but, I never really came up with anything. However, when I saw what Keith had sent me, it just clicked… it was about as perfect as I could imagine. The graphic is to the point, and says what it needs to say. But the details to what is in the graphic are what are really awesome.

First off, I love the mountains set in the background of my logo. And the tree that forms the “I” in the title doesn’t appear to be overwhelming, or out-of-place. It actually looks like it should be there. The earthy colors bring out what needs to be brought out in a subtle, yet almost loud, way, and in my opinion, compliment each other nicely. But that’s not all…

My cartoon image actually looks better than I do in person! And I love how Keith has incorporated some of my actual gear into the image. The water bottles on my shoulder straps; the top of the pack just above my shoulders, as well as the sternum strap and the thin hip belt, these details all really look like my ZPacks Zero backpack. And I love that he included the cargo pockets on my pants, and even my Suunto Core on my wrist (and the correct wrist at that!) And lets not forgot my trusty Gossamer Gear LT4 trekking poles… They almost look real!

While I probably should have, I had never spoke with Keith about doing a logo for me, so one can see how this was completely a surprise to me. Between not expecting it, and how awesome it is, I was excited! Heck, I still am…

So, I have got to give Keith a huge thanks for this random act of kindness. As can be seen by the logo above, Keith is definitely gifted as an artist, however, drawing is not the only gift that Keith has. Keith is actually half of the Two Gear Guys, which in case you haven’t come across them yet, the Two Gear Guys have been working on YouTube videos that are backpacking oriented, and both entertaining and informative. But, don’t take my word for it, check out this video as an example:

Again, I want to give a huge thanks to Keith for this awesome surprise. As well, be sure to head over to the Two Gear Guys Facebook page, and their YouTube channel, and give them a thumbs up! They’re great guys, and it’s definitely good stuff.

As for the logo, for the time being, I have decided to use it at the end of my YouTube videos, rather than the simple text that I had been using to point viewers to my blog. (I have actually already used the logo at the end of my last 2 videos, but plan to use it on all the rest from here on out too.) And if I can work it in some other places on my blog, or somewhere else, I will do so.

Anyway, I was am excited about the logo and wanted to share it with everyone. And heck, if you think you may be interested in a logo, he just might be able to hook you up too…

Thanks for stopping by.

About Stick

My blog is essentially a record of my hiking career. Through it, I, and others, can see how I have evolved from a heavy weight backpacker, to a smarter, more efficient, lightweight backpacker. Through the use of video, still photos, and of course writing, one can see my progression, as well as check out some of the places I hike, and not to mention some cool, lightweight gear options. For me, my blog is a journal, but for others, I hope that it is an interactive learning tool to aid them in their own progression towards lightweight backpacking.

Nice logo. I agree that the two of you, Chad and Brian, also started me thinking about lighter weight gear. But also much more than that, about being outdoors and enjoying what nature has to offer us.Thanks for having your blog.

      Doug,

Great to hear that we have influenced you to go a little lighter! But even more than that, just to get out more. It’s a beautiful world out there… but we gotta get out there to see it!

      Happy hiking!

Great logo! Do you plan to do a review of your Suunto Core? I picked one up recently and it would be great to get your take on how you like yours.

      Andrew,

Glad you like the logo… I am really excited about it! I even ordered some stickers and a shirt over the weekend to see how it will work out… exciting stuff! 🙂

As for the Core, great watch, and I love mine. However, it is not perfect… I know that one day I am going to have to post a review of it, and I will… just not sure when that will be exactly at this point though…
