I recently received a pair of these LOWA Renegade GTX Mid Boots to test for Backpackgeartest.org. I am very excited about testing these boots out. Initially they appear to be very well made, and upon trying them on they fit very nice. My foot sits firmly in place and there seems to be no pressure points anywhere at this point. The only concern I will watch for is the height of these boots. They are a little taller than my other mid hiking boots. These actually come over the top of my ankle by a good inch.
These boots have a full length nylon shank and the uppers are made of a few pieces of Nubuck sewn together. Basically these boots are a little stiffer than my Merrell Moab GTX XCR Mid boots I currently own, so I have worn them a full day yesterday (16 straight hours) trying to break them in before my first hike with them in 2 weeks. I must say that they have been pleasant so far and I am looking forward to fully testing these boots out.
I will have a link to my review posted here so that the full report can be accessed. Of course this will be a three-part test series so it will take about another 4 – 5 months to complete the test.
Here is the first part of the test series. The other two reports will be appended to this report as they are posted.
